When and why did you join Pragmatics?
It was a sunny morning on March 19, 2001, when Mrs. Kimmy Duong interviewed me for the Accountant position at Pragmatics.
When I arrived, Pragmatics had already established a reputation throughout the industry as a trusted, capable, and innovative solution provider. It was also famous for its family-friendly work culture, which I valued a lot. Considering these qualities, I gladly accepted the offer to join this family.
What is your current role at Pragmatics? Why is your role important?
I’m currently a part of the Accounting and Finance Department as a Sr. Accountant/Payroll Manager. This is a critical role to execute and manage payroll, taxation, and mandatory benefits. The position requires effective communication with employees, vendors, and clients to ensure that all employees are paid timely and accurately.
It is challenging yet rewarding, and I am proud to be always part of the team that makes those implementations a success.
Changes and adaptions are always happening in this position, so I need to actively maintain my knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local legal payroll requirements as well as the company’s policies. It is challenging yet rewarding, and I am proud to be always part of the team that makes those implementations a success.
What makes Pragmatics unique? What makes you stay with Pragmatics?
Pragmatics not only helped me become CPP certified and advance my career but assisted with my daughter’s education through scholarships – something very emotionally significant to me. Mrs. Kimmy Duong’s exceptional mentorship showed how to lead through example.
Beyond the family-friendly culture, Pragmatics stands out for promoting employees’ safety, growth, and goals. The company’s CEO and CFO encourage all the employees to be active members of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) and the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) to network with industry professionals and pursue educational opportunities. Pragmatics not only helped me become CPP certified and advance my career but assisted with my daughter’s education through scholarships – something very emotionally significant to me. Outside of work, how do you describe yourself?
I love traveling, fashion, and cooking – and making my grandson laugh!
What advice do you have for someone going through a challenging time?
“Remember when you were there for me? It’s my turn to do the same for you.”
Like family members, friends going through hard times often feel better when someone reminds them that they’ve been a big help in the past.
